TAMAN Paramount is an underrated area that has positioned itself as a vibrant hub for the fashion-forward crowd, especially appealing to those in their late teens and twenties. The neighbourhood boasts a variety of aesthetic cafés and unique thrift stores, each showcasing the latest trends, making it a go-to shopping destination for Generation Z.

Here, young people find a welcoming space to express themselves freely, embracing their individuality without fear of judgement. Taman Paramount truly embodies a sense of community where self-expression thrives, and creativity knows no bounds.

While Taman Paramount serves as a safe haven for self-expression, it has often drawn criticism from the parents of younger generations, particularly because it was once a quieter area inhabited by the previous generation. Many older individuals view the eclectic styles showcased here—ranging from all-black goth attire to eye-catching sparkly leotards—as inappropriate or even embarrassing. Nevertheless, this vibrant hub offers a diverse array of fashion choices, ensuring that visitors encounter a wide spectrum of creative expressions and bold looks.

One of the most prominent shops in Taman Paramount has made a significant impact on the area: Spiral Store. It's more than just a thrift store; it’s a space that prides itself on being a cool hangout spot that is both size- and style-inclusive. The store encourages the joy and freedom of self-expression through the various forms of fashion it offers, as the owner mentioned in an Instagram post.

This unique shop allows aspiring fashion entrepreneurs to level up and be part of a community that is both inspiring and supportive. Fashionistas can immerse themselves in the art of self-expression while networking with like-minded individuals through events and collaborations with other neighbourhood thrift stores.

During my recent visit to the Spiral Store, I was thoroughly impressed. The shop was not only clean but also aesthetically pleasing, with beautiful decorations and a vibrant soundtrack that set the mood.

The staircase leading up to the store was adorned with artistic embellishments, Halloween decorations, and more—evoking a sense of mystery and anticipation. Each step felt like an invitation to discover the treasures that awaited inside, further enhancing the allure of the experience.

Spiral Store offers an impressive array of items, from designer clothing and stylish shoes to handbags and unique trinkets like stickers and paintings, perfectly catering to today’s youth. The fashion pieces were all reasonably priced, featuring everything from edgy goth wear and sparkly outfits to trendy corsets and styled jeans. The store also showcased a stunning collection of jewelry, including vintage watches, exquisite rings, and bracelets.

I was immersed in a lively atmosphere, surrounded by a variety of music. Contrary to its reputation for attracting a fashion-forward crowd that can be judgmental, the ambiance was refreshingly friendly. The store was busy, yet the staff were warm and welcoming, offering suggestions on outfits and complimenting my style, which made for an uplifting experience. I made new friends and encountered familiar faces, all while enjoying a judgment-free environment.

Each piece of jewellery on sale seemed to tell its own story, drawing visitors in with its unique charm and craftsmanship. I was so captivated by the clothing selection that I couldn’t resist picking up a thrifted Playboy jacket at a great price. The experience truly showcased the store's commitment to offering something special for everyone.
